What to expect
Consultation and History
You’ll meet with the doctor and explain your expectations for what chiropractic can do for you. What brought you in today? How has your life been affected? This is your chance to explain your goals and have questions answered. Based on this initial history, you and the doctor will work as a team to develop a unique plan in order to achieve your goal(s).
After your history, the doctor will perform a brief physical exam in order to garner more information about your body and establish a base-line in order to monitor progress. This will include Range-of-Motion, X-rays, spine examination, and the nervoscope- a tool used to determine levels of nerve pressure.
Plan of Action
Variables affect how people respond to care and the time it takes to achieve their goals. Generally speaking, there are three phases of care:
- Acute/Relief: This is to address the main symptoms you’re regularly experiencing.
- Supportive/Corrective: This phase is to stabilize you and prevent the initial problems from returning. This is the most crucial stage because as your symptoms begin to fade you may think you’re out of harm’s way but the problem can easily and quickly return if you stop care during this time.
- Wellness/Maintenance: This is equivalent to routine cleanings from the dentist. It is done as a preventative measure and to monitor your overall health.
